My name is Stephanie Boyle and I am the teacher of this course. I am an historian of modern Egypt and world history. This means that I think a lot about how the world is connected physically, intellectually, economically and spiritually. It I  also means that I have some expertise particularly in the Middle East. The fields that I really love to study are urban history, gender studies, history of medicine and Sufi mysticism in the late 19th century.  I hold a PhD in history from Northeastern University, a MA from Trinity College in Hartford and a BA from Wesleyan University.

I am a new New Yorker, a native Californian, fluent in Spanish, Arabic and English (sometimes) and a mother to an amazing little boy. I find technology interesting, important and challenging.
