BLOG VII – Self-Reflection

I want to add that it is a fantastic learning opportunity that gives me practical work experience. I have applied all of my skills during the internship, and it somehow makes me feel incredibly good about the work I’m doing for other people.

In addition, I discovered something important; when working with co-workers, communication can often be more crucial than the calibre of a designer’s abilities. It is not a designer’s portfolio because the final delivery should be something that can demonstrate the company’s value, as a result, communication is a means of letting people discover this value, and it would require some time to revise repeatedly.

Another thing I want to point out is the ability to manage your time well. I’m happy to say that I always use this ability in all of my academic tasks. People with effective time management skills not only work more productively but also avoid letting work interfere with their personal lives, which results in a win-win situation.

The development of software or design abilities will come last. I initially have no notion of what I’m going to make when I’m working on the project my supervisor assigned to me. To be really honest, I’m worried that I won’t be able to satisfy them. But for now, I’d want to express that I’m happy with the outcome I got from them. People will have varying levels of skill as designers, and I believe this to be normal. So, I’m attempting to set a high bar for my objective and work toward getting there. Even if I didn’t reach that standard, I think my talents would still advance. This is the mentality I acquired via my internship, and it has helped me to stop self-doubt. What I now know is just practice.

BLOG VI – First Mission completed

My first “mission” is completed and meets the 120 hours requirement this week. I delivered the second video to my supervisor after the holiday, giving him a choice between two distinct versions with contrasting background music.

My supervisor is pleased with my work as well and broadcasts it on the official company channel. They will upload the Promotional video first to promote this new comic series of their game project. I think it is because they want to give the public a demo look of what’s new in their game project. The second video will then be released a little later because it will contain the entire comic; I believe this is how my company plans to market the new product.

I might continue working for the upcoming week on the following project, which has a similar work objective. I’m happy with what I’m doing right now because I’m using my skills in it.

BLOG V – Mission ready to Complete

I eventually finished my first project after working on it for a few weeks and giving it to my supervisor.

This week, I produced two different videos based on the comic I created. One of the videos will advertise our company’s just launched new comic book series, and the second video will act as an automatic reading of the comic. But the second video might be finished in the next upcoming week. As a result, I leverage my motion graphics expertise and give this project my all.

I’m delighted my supervisor approved of the result. And as the video clip was being produced, my supervisor and I talked about the soundtrack effect and background music to decide which would be used in the finished product.

This project taught me how to collaborate with others the way I do in class. For instance, discussing the project, exchanging ideas, and then putting the recommendation into practice to see what happens. I think the most crucial factor in enhancing the project is how individuals interact with one another because everyone has a unique perspective.

BLOG IV – Work progress update

By the end of the week, I had already worked 84 hours for my internship. And I will be able to meet up my 120 hours requirement on July 5.

This week’s work focused on continuing with revising and coloring my work on the current project, which I completed on Wednesday. I personally like it when I review my work, which obviously improves my understanding of composition, storyboard, and color theory. Then I also learned that it is essential to check the work several times before delivering it to the supervisor, avoiding wasting unnecessary time during the project.

After I delivered my work and revised the mistake I had made in it, I discussed with my supervisor about the deliverable for how to publicize this creation. Finally, we decided to make a short video to promote this work. Therefore, my next mission is to make related promotional motion graphics based on the completed work contents.

BLOG II – About the Company

I’m working in a company that is primarily focused on its NFT market, and developing various deliverables to sell its product. Making a game that accommodates their NFT product is currently their top focus.

After a quick interview, I started working from home. During the interview, I wasn’t questioned much; the key topics were my skills and the position I would play if hired by the company. My primary duty is to use my knowledge of graphic design, art, and motion graphics to promote the company’s ongoing video game developments. This next week, I’ll begin working on my first drawing for a promotional comic for our project; I need to create the first storyboard based on the outline my supervisor gave me. Before the week is up, I’ll provide my supervisor with a draft of my storyboard so we can discuss the next steps.

BLOG I – Seeking opportunities

I’m still looking and applying for internships and entry-level jobs in the field I want for the first week. Some companies rejected me, and some of them still did not reply to me.

Although I know that job hunting is a patient job, I have a positive mindset about it. But I still worry that my portfolio is too introductory and that I will not be able to get into the industry. To alleviate this worry, I can only learn new skills and exercise daily to increase my confidence.

Then I’m lucky that my friend gives me a chance that I might be able to start my internship, but I have to wait until June 6 for the interview.

Then I’m also getting a project to design a logo for a start-up company’s website, at least I do not waste this week.

Hoping I can get the job after the interview.
