As I continue through my internship, I have realized that there is much more to the design and marketing process than creating visuals. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is the importance of research. Before starting this internship, I understood that research was necessary, but I never realized how much time and effort companies dedicate to it before a campaign or product launch. Conducting research on influencers, competitors, customer behavior, and marketing trends has shown me that every design and marketing decision should be supported by data rather than assumptions.
Another important lesson has been understanding the value of communication and collaboration. Working in a small company has allowed me to communicate directly with the owner and other team members, making it easier to ask questions, receive feedback, and adapt when priorities change. I have learned that projects rarely follow a perfectly straight path, and being flexible when plans shift is an essential professional skill.
On a personal level, I have learned the importance of time management and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Balancing my internship, internship course, retail job, freelance work, and personal responsibilities has been challenging, but it has encouraged me to become more organized and intentional with my time. Scheduling my tasks and setting aside time for myself has helped me stay productive while avoiding burnout.
Overall, this experience has strengthened my understanding of what it means to work in a professional environment. I have gained valuable experience in research, communication, marketing, organization, and collaboration. These are skills that I know will continue to benefit me throughout my career as a designer, and I look forward to applying them to future projects and opportunities.
