Going through this baccalaureate program played a significant role in facilitating the advancement of my knowledge and skills, in promoting my confidence, in teaching me to be a leader, and in many more ways that are valuable in today’s rapidly-changing, complex healthcare system. While the Associate’s Degree program was more focused on how one should carry out specific tasks, the Baccalaureate program’s emphasis has been focused on leadership, management, community nursing, and nursing research. Each class I have taken has helped me to improve my professional skills using critical thinking, not simply rote memorization. Though it has been a long, hard journey to get this degree, now that I am so close to graduation I am sure that the knowledge I gained at the Baccalaureate level will help me tremendously in my career by allowing me to deliver high quality, cultural competent, cost-effective care with the help of evidence-based findings practice.
