Knowing my own strengths and weakness help me become a better individual of who I am and what I do. I consider myself a caring, reliable and trustworthy person. I always show up before time and get ready to work physically and mentally. I always keep my promise and commitment to clients as well to my company. The role of nursing is not for a selfish person and caring for others is the basic of nursing. Empathy, fidelity, kindness and openness are also the strengths that I possess and they make me a great nurse. I always provide care to clients in the way that I would want my family to be cared for.
I value my professional appearance as well as my professional attitudes. I work in a culturally diverse community and with aging population. I am aware of the importance in being culturally sensitive and competent when providing care. I expect my team and myself to treat everyone with dignity and respect. I have witnessed my coworker mistreated one of our clients who has Alzheimer’s disease. I advocated for my client and confronted him that his behavior was not tolerable. Although the client was confused but she still deserved the respect and proper care. The world is round and that what goes around comes around. Admit it or not, we are aging and will be old one day. Advocacy is very important in nursing.
I am also a well-organized individual, especially when I am at work. I believe it is very important to keep the working area neat and organized as well as the working environment. It is very important to stock sufficient supplies and keep things where they belong in the Peripheral Catherization Lab. Being an organized individual, I have better control over the work flow. I am also a dedicated, fast and hard working person. I like to get works done quickly. When facing a problem, I consider all aspects and analyze them and find the best solution as possible. Learning is a lifelong process. I like what I do as a nurse. I am aware that I could always learn more to provide better care to my clients.
