Abstract

This piece will examine the deep history of racial/non-racial inequality across the united states and highlight the effects and problems of said inequality on a political and social scale. By contrasting philosophical ideas dated back to 1841 to events of inequality across I will reveal the many flaws in American culture both past and present and explore the ways inequality has shaped society. I will be gathering resources from articles, newspapers, Online Databases and such to provide evidence to my findings. This research recaps the struggles of African Americans & women alike across the 1900’s and cross-examines this idea of “self reliance” coined by Ralph Waldo Emmerson to a more philosophical standpoint on these events in history.
