Archives+CUNY+Wikipedia: an editathon at City Tech

Join us at City Tech Library to use CUNY’s rich archival resources for editing Wikipedia!

Did you know that City Tech has an amazing archive—and we’re just one of many CUNYs with a rich historic repository? At this event, we’ll be using digitized archival material from City Tech and other CUNYs to edit Wikipedia pages about people and events connected to CUNY’s history.

No editing experience required! This event will start with a short training session for anyone new to Wikipedia or who would like a refresher. We’ll be working in a space with desktop computers for all participants, so laptops are not needed. Food and drinks will be provided.

If you’d like to start brainstorming what’s possible, check out historic student newspapers from City Tech, Medgar Evers College, York College, and the College of Staten Island! We’ll also look at how the CUNY Digital History Archive can be a resource for editing about Occupy CUNY, the fight for Asian American Studies at Hunter College, the history of Puerto Rican Studies at Brooklyn College, and more.

This event is supported by a Wikimedia Foundation Rapid Grant for Exploring Wikiprojects at City Tech Library. All attendees are subject to Wikimedia NYC’s code of conduct and Photo Consent Policy.

Where: City Tech Library, 300 Jay Street, Brooklyn NY 11201

When: April 16, 2026, 12:30 – 4:00pm (feel free to join us for any portion of this time)
