Hello! My name is Jyzbeth Vargas, I am 20 years old, my pronouns are she/her, and I am in my 4th year of college. This is my second year at CityTech where I will be graduating with my Associate’s degree in Health Science in the spring of 2023. I transferred here after completing two years at York College in Queens where I majored in biology and then switched over to Health Science. My goals in terms of academics is to finish out the school year strong with mostly A’s, if not all. My career goal is to become an adolescent medicine specialist, which is pretty close to a pediatrician. I’ve known I wanted to be a doctor since the age of 12, so it’s great to know that I am given the opportunity to make it happen. I also have a big interest in psychology and criminal justice. When I go to another school to get my Bachelor’s degree, I plan to major in biology and minor in either psychology or criminal justice. My hobbies include listening to music, watching tv shows, and baking. For four years, I had my own baking business in which I mainly sold cheesecakes and chocolate covered strawberry arrangements. It was a great business that, in my eyes, was successful and a great experience for me. Unfortunately, I had to put an end to it because it started to get in the way of school and I got a job, so I was too busy for it. However, I still like to bake and try new things whenever I have free time. To me, gothic means dark; dark style, dark way of thinking, dark emotions. I am excited to learn about what gothic REALLY means while taking this class.

Hi Jyzbeth, it is nice to meet you! How amazing that you have already had a successful baking business. What made you decide to take a Gothic class this semester? Do you enjoy music and shows that are dark and creepy?
