Question#2, White Privilege

In the numbered list of conditions #6 my attention. “When I am told about our national heritage or about civilization, I am shown that people of my color made it what it is.” This has never been shown to me in a positive light, wether its religion or deep history  Ottoman Empire I have yet to read a book where America finds that the people of my race and or color have made it what it is. Im not even mentioning the whole “9/11” situation, the only good thing they speak about is our infamous oil from Saudi Arabia. Honestly what goes on in my mind is generalizing, that if your Muslim, your part of my culture, so although I am from Yemen I would still speak on behalf of Palestine, Syria Iraq, Egypt, and all the Arab nations only because I believe we should all be working together to  show we are not these savages that are bound by religion in a cruel way.

I like your idea “I believe we should all be working together to show we are not these savages that are bound by religion in a cruel way.” I feel the same way because everyone should be treated the same regardless of their religion, race, culture, background, and more. We should embrace each other’s and learn from each other. The best way is to end racism and stereotypes, so we can learn from each other and not enemies. If enemies are everywhere then whom are you going to trust or seek help? However, racism will never end because we cannot control what people thinks and no one can guarantee if we can make back home safe. Therefore, we should use our lives to the fullest and use time wisely and do something effectively.

I agree that we shouldn’t look at people by their religion and culture, the system we live in today should show the good other cultures have done for us as a nation instead of just showing what the “white” people have done just cause that’s what america wants to portray. When I was in the ARMY in 2009 a main part of learning was geared toward having a judgmental eye of all the people in the middle east because anyone could be the enemy. I couldn’t accept that cause far in my family bloodline there is middle eastern blood. My mothers maiden name is Hazim and if she was judged by that i dont know how my family would be. Racism is a ugly thing and even though i can’t change peoples thoughts i know that atleast i can accept people for who they are and not their religion or culture.
