Hi, my name is Richard Buren. I’m a freshman in New York City College of Technology majoring in hospitality management. I chose this specialty because I was inspired to be a chef by my mom who is also a chef for one of the daughters of the Lefrak family. I was inspired at a young age, that when I was younger I would help out in the kitchen and try to cook with my mom. The thing I find most exciting in hospitality management that is in the second semester we will be finally be getting our chef jackets and we will be finally be earning our “strips”. I want to be a chef because it is a great way to be creative and to learn and make food from around the world. One interesting about me I’m really adventurous and being adventurous will be helpful in the culinary world because I would be able to travel around the world and experiencing all the different kind of cuisine and learning how to make my own variation of them in my restaurant one day.

Sounds like being a chef runs in the family! Do you have a favorite type of cuisine to cook right now?
