Journal #4

Here’s to week 4, I have officially “Earned My Ears” and I am no longer training, Yayyy!!!! I’ve noticed all my training were at night and I didn’t have any morning training which I thought was weird and unfair. I had asked one of my trainers Russell if it’s possible if I can have morning training, he basically stated “If all your training days was at night then all your shifts will be at night but if you will like to inform our Leader, Anita, who does the schedule then it’s a possibility she can make it happen it doesn’t hurt to ask, just have to make sure you keep reminding her.” When Russell stated that it stuck with me because I am here to learn as much as I can in my position and location, I am able to do anything I put my mind into. As soon as I got the chance to see my leader Anita, I instantly informed her that I am interested in working mornings and if it’s possible if I can get training, she was pleased with my request and said: “Sure, I will look into it”.

Once I clocked in to check my assignment through the CDS Deployment system I was thrilled to have my first assignment as Cashier. It was my third time on Cashier and I was starting to feel more confident since I was getting comfortable of the whole concept of guests having Dining Plans, Resort Mugs Plan, Table Service Plan, DDP combo, and much more. Although, I was struggling a little bit in remembering where exactly certain meals are since there’s so many on the screen. Some of the meals on the screen are no longer being used into the system anymore, so it was a bit confusing since they no longer use that name for that certain meal. For a Quick Service Dining Plan, a guest can have a meal with a snack or drink and anything in the Bakery is considered a snack. Resort Mug Plan; any guests whose underneath the plan can get free Resort Mugs, they must reactivate it at the register. We mainly tell them that they can refill their mugs at any Resort, can take their mugs into the parks but unfortunately cannot refill them, can pour hot beverages inside but make sure to not put them in a microwave. Although the Table Service Plan is for the restaurant Boatwright’s guests can use this plan inside the Quick Service Dining as well, a DDP combo is basically used when guests want to use three snacks as a meal. Hopefully, I will get faster with the register and remember exactly where each meal is.

I had one long exhausted night and a station I was not planning on closing which was beverage island. I knew this day was going to come but just not this soon and honestly beverage island is my least favorite station to close.  I ended up being behind, closing around midnight, I had two of my trainers help me close and I was thankful for that because I honestly needed the help. My coordinator that night ended up giving me the Beverage Island Closing Procedures to look over so the next time I close it I wouldn’t need any help. This night made me realize I need to start earlier to give myself enough time to make sure I finish everything efficiently without needing any help towards the end. Hopefully, I come to this point to finish both sides of the beverage island with no assistance. Overall, this week had taught me it’s okay to be behind at times when closing certain stations and making mistakes, every one of my colleagues so far that I’ve met is extremely helpful. I am looking forward to next week when my two classes start, meeting my professor; I noticed she is teaching both of my classes (Human Resources and Advanced Studies in Hospitality Management) and my classmates as well.
