Give Kids The World

This past Wednesday, I finally had the opportunity to participate in Kids Night Out as part of Give Kids The World. I had some anxiety leading up to it—what would we be doing, and what should I say?

After checking in with the programs office, we were driven to GKTW. I found out at the orientation for volunteers that we would be paired with a child for the duration of the evening starting with games and activities followed by dinner, and then a talent show starring the kids. Walking around the village was incredible. It really transports you to another place.

I was paired with, Caleb, who was not available until dinner and left a little before the show. While I did not get a chance to really bond with Caleb, I am grateful I was able to take part. Watching the kids perform was really something as I could not help but be saddened thinking what the kids and their families are going through; they looked healthy and happy with no inkling of illnesses. It is amazing to know that an organization like this exists, and I hope to reconnect with them again, soon.

I’m with you Suzanne. What a wonderful experience, The fact that people are given this opportunity to give back is amazing and the joy that it brings to the children, theirs no better feeling then that.
