Read and React #1

Reading the article about training trends reminded me of the time I went to traditions and became an official Disney cast member. At traditions, we were told about everything from how Walter and Roy Disney started the company and what are their expectations when hiring us and becoming a part of the company. It was very interesting and I feel like we were able to have a better understanding of what it means to work in said company. Also they explained that there is one goal that the company has set for everybody to achieve everyday and that is to create happiness. While it does sound simple, it is very important to provide the best quality service to the guests and make them so happy that they’re willing to come back. After all, this is the happiest place in the world.

But the company not only focuses on creating happiness. They also focus on their employees and their well being. Employees are like a big family and are there for each other whenever someone needs assistance. another important rule they abide by is the four keys. Even after traditions this is often mentioned during training to remind us of their importance. The four keys are first and foremost Safety. They want to ensure the well being of not only the guest but also of the employees or cast members. the second one is Courtesy. We should always go above and beyond to exceed guests’ expectations because is not about just being courteous but also about showing the guests that they are important and that you really care. the third key is Show. Every property and every cast member must remain in character. One should never break character because it is a way to ensure that the guests are having a magical experience. Last but not least, Efficiency. Everyone is in charge of  creating a moment of happiness for the guests. Cast members have to pay close attention to their surroundings and find easier ways to assist guests achieve and have a magical moment. It is amazing how successful the company has become by following these rules and taking good care of their employees.
