Everyday we are reminded of the four keys in Disney. The first and most important one is safety. Here at Walt Disney World, safety is taken very seriously. Once classes begin, for the first three week we will have to watch the safety videos telling us where should we go in case of an emergency. As I was reading Barbara Higgins article ” The Storms of Summer,” it came no surprised to me that Walt Disney World had a better plan than most resort in Orlando during the hurricanes season. Like most plans, there isn’t a perfect answer to solve any problem. Disney knew that it and according to Higgins “The storms,’ violence also caused the company to fine tune its disaster plan. With an emphasis on communication and support of employees…” After the three out of the four hurricanes passed Orlando Disney learned what they can improve on. The improvement had to definitely be communication with more than its employees and their guests.
When a guest enter anywhere in the Walt Disney World from the resort to the park, they know that they can trust their kids with the cast members. Honestly this is what make Disney special. Since I am working as a merchandise specialist in both Swan and Dolphin Resort, I was told by my training my leader about the back of the house safety. We have an area in the stockroom that has red tape around it meaning that nothing should go there because it is a safety hazard. Another thing she mentioned was that a chair cannot just be place anywhere because the arms of the chair can get tripped on. This is dangerous especially if a cast member are holding merchandise and fall on the fall.
