At first when we started traditions class I thought it was just a bunch of general knowledge until I actually started working and saw how I could apply almost everything we learned to my job. The most important thing we learned in traditions I guess would have to be the 4 keys. The most important thing about the four keys are the order of them. Safety, courtesy, show, efficiency. Safety is there number one priority, and they should us many ways to provide safety on the job. They also told us that being courteous makes our guests feel very special, and to never call them our customers, because they are guests in our house. they showed us the special way to point, how to speak to little children, (get down on their eye level), and to recognize our guests special pins. We also learned to always follow the Disney look. Always come to work in proper attire, and even when you are off the clock but are still in your outfit, you still need to stay in character and play your role, because we are still representing the magic. And finally efficiency, because money is the last thing that we think about. Everything must be to everyone’s liking, no one should leave the park, resort, food court unhappy. I actually use almost everything we were told in traditions, that i probably would not have been doing if we never had the class.
I like that you mentioned pin traiding. It has been a while since a CP has discussed pin traiding. I think pin traiding is one of the most brilliant ideas that Disney has executed. It encourages guest interaction and builds revenue. A perfect way to support the mission of Disney.
