It is very important that an organization give you the tools to be successful at a job, and when those tools are not given it makes it harder for individuals to be able to work or even be successful. When given those right tools there is more of a likelihood that a person is going to want to stay and eventually work his or her way up in the company. At Disney Tradition we had an historical journey about Disney the company, and who started it. We gained insight about Walt Disney. We learned about the four keys, Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency. Disney has important standards around these four keys. They also talked about Cast(Disney’s employees), Guest, Business. The Disney common goal is to “create happiness by providing the finest in entertainment for people of all ages everywhere”. Cast creates happiness for the guests. When the guests are happy they spend money. When the guests spend money, Disney has great business results. In addition to everything we learned about Disney and their values, there was a meet and greet. We got to know a little bit about the people sitting at our table. These were to be our fellow cast members. There was so much to be impressed with when it came to Tradition, but what had me sold was that Disney never lets us forget that we as the cast member make the magic, it starts with us. They made me feel special like I was part of something really amazing or even magical. I do agree it’s important to make sure that your new hires or employees are trained adequately, treated with respect and acknowledged or praised when there doing a wonderful job. When you make them feel good about themselves and the establishment they work for and they understand and are trained in their jobs they will stay and be successful.

Connecting to the mission statement of Disney is important for all castmembers. You are each part of creating the entertainment that keeps guests coming back. How does this experience connect to the reading assigned for this read and react?
