In November 2014, a fellow pier and I were chosen to present our research project at the annual Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM). The topic of our project was the correlation of Probiotics in Periodontal Health, and the study we obtained the research from proved the benefits of probiotics on the oral cavity, specifically the strain of Lactobacillus reuteri. Being able to educate other professionals on this not so common subject was a great experience, but we also learned a great deal as well. As dental hygienists, we are not only clinicians, but educators and it is essential to not only conduct research, but learn from other scientific studies performed.
