Comments:

Since the formation of group #4 I have observed a steadily increasing cohesiveness amongst our members. Our topic, Osteomyelitis, has proved to be a challenging one as finding an suitable case study has been somewhat elusive. Never the less, Rehab has in fact located two possible candidates to bring before the group at our next meeting. Alejandra and myself, Matthew, have engaged in discussions on how best to represent the group and our topic visually. Cristina, Jennifer, Li & Zonia are collaborating and compiling data for the powerpoint, essay and, presentation. As this is a work in progress we are all eager to meet each week to discuss new goals and approve, as a group, on previous assignment. So far so good!

Here’s a test site that I made for the group project. Since I’m a student,I can’t give it unlimited space for all the massive postings that we’re about to do. I’ll still work on improving this site because it’s gotten slightly aesthetically better but there’s still a long way to go.

Group Assessment

1.  Identify your responsibilities within the group: I have to select two outstanding cases from my hospital rotation to bring to school on Thursday. Thereafter we will join as a group to select one of the two cases. I than have the responsibility to perform a thorough research on the case to later pass it onto the rest of my group members.

I have yet to attend clinical tomorrow where I will have access to several cases from which I will select two to present to my group. I have already spoken to a CT Tech who will assist me tomorrow to have access to them.
4. Identify another group member: Pooja Patel is also in my group; she and I are in charge of the research on the case presentation selected. She and I have already worked out a plan as to how we will share this responsibility and how we will pass down the information to the rest of our group.

I am not sure if I want to change my position from x-ray tech to another imaging modality or administration position.  After speaking with a technologist at my clinical site, i’ve learned that there will come a time in our careers that we will ask ourselves, “do I want to be doing this for the next 40 years?.”  Working and going back to school will be difficult, but I know if I truly want it I will find a way just as I do now.  If I were to take some sort of managerial position I believe in myself enough to know I will do a good job.  I’m very personal and I listen when someone, patient or co-worker, talks to me.  I am also a lot of fun to work with, but I know when something needs to be done, you get it done.

I am going to leave my reflection here since there isn’t a tab in the categories for the Electronic Profile yet Professor. I intend on continuing my studies in the medical field. The rad tech program is a stepping stone for me, but exactly where my path will end I am still unsure. I do know however that I will diligently strive to be the best I can be. This is a journey I take seriously and I hope I can achieve the same level of success I did in my previous career endeavors. I feel the confidence I am starting to posses as an emerging technologist will deflate any residual fears and allow me to pull from my past experiences in management and construction to see things outside of the box. I believe having worked in these industries where my organization, leadership, patience and effective communication skills were called upon daily have  helped hone these personal strengths into something I can utilize in my career as a tech or just in everyday life.  There is a niche out there and I will be ready to fill it when my time comes.
