Introduction

Welcome to my professional ePortfolio. This site mirrors my schoolwork at New York City College of Technology, as well as my achievements. Here you can find a little bit about my background, my personal philosophy of nursing and my resume.

I was born and raised in New York City and now I’m proud to be a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. I really didn’t know if I wanted to be a nurse before I started nursing school; in fact, I’ve spent 6 years after high school thinking about which career is right for me. I remember I stated working as a nursing assistant at Mount Sinai Medical center. While working in Mount Sinai I decided to pursue a career in nursing. The nurses inspired me to become a nurse I ‘am today because I had the opportunity to see the amount of care the nurses provided for the patient’s day in and day out. They were caring and knowledgeable and made the experience of the patients much easier. Earning my degree came with some challenges, but I loved nursing school a lot. It was hard but it was very interesting to me, I enjoyed nursing and science classes. I liked to learn about the human body, about diseases, treatments and the nursing job. Through my clinicals I loved nursing even more, I loved taking care of people, being part of the health care team and seeing improvements in patients. At the end of it all I felt very pleasant and noticed how rewarding for me it was. I graduated in 2019 from New York City College of Technology.

After graduation, I as soon as I received my RN license, I started to work in Harlem Hospital as operating room nurse. As I work in Harlem hospital I’m attending City Tech to earn my Bachelor full time. I’m proud to be a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and would like to continue my education and increase my knowledge. I noticed that I like to be challenged and to advance and improve in everything I do. I realized that I like nursing because I would never stop learning it will require for me to continue my education. I believe that nursing has many opportunities for career and self-growth. I noticed I have a few areas of interest in nursing, ICU, operating room nursing and community health nursing. For future, I’m thinking of getting my Master’s degree in education health. I think that community nurses play an important role in bringing change, developing policies and programs to address public health issues and improve the overall health of the community. I’m looking forward to graduate in December 2020 and to continue my journey to achieve my professional goals.
