Abstracts

Edge Detection and Convolutional Neural Network: We will demonstrate how edge detection can be done with convolutional operations in R and compare edge images resulting from different filters, such as the Sobel filter and the Scharr filter. We will show how to improve edge detection by using five steps procedure in Canny Edge Detection in detail. Lastly, we will have a brief discussion on the convolutional neural network and its applications.

Synthetic Bio-Material Scaffold could serve as Early Cancer Diagnostic: A synthetic bio-material scaffold can detect cancers. The scaffolds implanted attracts cancer cells and can also detect any cancers in the distal tissue that is about to spread.

How Cancel Culture makes cent$: The effects of cancel culture on businesses. How it affects the reputation and why cancel culture is important.

Stochastic Processes: Random Walk, Brownian Motion and Stock Prices: We are going to discuss Brownian Motion which is also considered to be a Weiner process and can be thought of as a random walk. We will briefly discuss the fluctuations of financial indices and relate them to Brownian motion and the modeling of stock prices.

Parametric Art: Lissajous curves which are named after the Mathematician Jules Antoine Lissajous (1822-1880) are generated from the parametric equations in its simplest form that is x = Acos(at) and y = Bsin(bt). Prior to Lissajous Mathematician Nathaniel Bowditch has also studied these curves in 1815 that’s why they are also called Bowditch curves as well. These curves can be found in engineering, mathematics, graphic design, physics and in many other disciplines .

Personalized Gamepad Keyboard: PC gaming is a massive industry and in recent times more and more people are joining pc gaming. The vast majority of PC gamers tend to use their keyboard and mouse to play games with; however there are other methods of playing games such as a game controller or VR equipment. Traditional keyboards are great for what they are used for however even keyboards with 60% of the original keys can still be clunky and awkward for people playing games leading to miss-clicks and activating different things when otherwise not wanting to. This project sought to create a MACRO style keyboard specifically for PC Gaming in which the only keys are the ones necessary to play a desired game. The most convenient way to make this keyboard was through an Arduino ProMicro running QMK keyboard firmware. This allowed for the key map to be made custom without starting from scratch in the Arduino IDE as well as seamless Bluetooth integration such that the keyboard can be placed and used wherever the user wants on their desk. Other specifications include the use of Cherry MX Red key switches for quiet pressed that provide sufficient mechanical tactile feedback, a 10,000 mAh battery pack, and an Adafruit BLE UART Friend bluetooth module running nRF51 firmware allowing it to be connected to both computers and mobile devices. The body of the keyboard was designed in Solidworks2020 as a 3 part assembly, two part shell and 1 part backplate for mounting the key switches to. The pieces were then printed out on an Ender 5 3d printer.

Computer Modeling and Design of Structures: The presentation will go over briefly highrise structures and issues in 432 Park Ave. Then a Robot model of steel and concrete are shown to provide more details on where and why these issues occur.
