Hi, my name is Ugiloy Hamrayeva and I was born in Uzbekistan but was raised in Turkmenistan. I immigrated to the United States in 2013 originally to pursue a nursing degree.
In my home country, the dental field is not as developed and they are not up to date with the technology. For example, a dentist would not have an x ray machine. After working as a dental assistant for a year and being able to assist in various procedures such as cleaning and whitening I decided to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. There have been many challenging days and I have made many mistakes throughout my education. However, I have learned to accept that some days will be more challenging than others and being able to recognize the mistakes that I have made will help me to become more resilient. Not only have I educated my patients about their oral health but each of them have given me an opportunity to learn and become a better hygienist.
