Journal (Self-Reflection)

Community Nursing focuses on the concerns of the community and how to enable early detection and prevention of many various diseases.  Often in the community people are unable to support everyone in their households and so they refrain from going to the hospital or any nearby clinics.  I feel that community nursing is a positive aspect in which nurses are able to reach out to the people and help give out physical assessments and distribute vaccinations.  When this is done this can help prevent unnecessary readmissions in the hospital.  Community nurses help to educate their patients and family members and keep them aware of their health related issues or concerns.  I feel that community nurses have to be aware of the different communities that they visit and the various cultures involved.  Some people will be willing to receive information about their health while others may be confined in their way of living without any healthcare.  Community nursing is a work of art that nurses must be passionate about, must be able to have patience with their patients, and perseverance to help motivate their patients to become more involved with their healthcare.
