Project Description:
Our assignment was to choose a font and three CMYK colors, along with black, to create typographic designs for each letter of the English alphabet for a business card mockup. For each letter, the left-side had to be designed “complex” while the right-side had to be designed “simple”. We also had to find three other mockups we wanted our designs to be on.
Process:
We first had to make fifty-two 3inx5in cards in Adobe Illustrator, two cards for each letter. We then had to choose three CMYK colors that we wanted to use, I chose cyan, navy blue, and this yellow-greenish color and black, I think they all went really well together. For each design, I mostly played with scale and repetition, I also had to think if I wanted to use just 3 colors for a design, or all four of them. For some of the complex designs, I was basically just putting letters together to see what my brain could create. For the simple designs, I tried to be as minimal as possible while still making the design look appealing. For the mockups, I chose a mug, a bag, and stickers. I found free mockups for them on Freepik and put my designs through Adobe Photoshop. I love how each design came out and this by far one of my favorite projects I did at Pratt.
