Hi, I’m Cailean Cooney. I’m approaching my 5th year at City Tech. Since fall 2014, an exciting part of my job has been to coordinate our OER efforts in the Library. We run introductory faculty workshops on OER each semester and I coordinate our OER Fellowship program that supports faculty to curate existing open/free course materials to replace a textbook in a course.
For this online course module, my hope is that your learning process will be as much about critiquing how this site is constructed and how the course content is organized, as it is about becoming knowledgeable about OERs and materials available for free through the library or on the web. Throughout this module, ask yourself what has been effective? What would you do differently? Was the course module too challenging, or not challenging enough? Was it interesting, or boring? Etc.
