Assignment 3- What we learned on 2/10/20

I learned the difference between analog and digital. Analog continuously changes while digital has a defined level. The difference between analog and digital technologies is that in analog technology, information is translated into electric pulses of varying amplitude. In digital technology, translation of information is into binary format (zero or one) where each bit is representative of two distinct amplitudes. An example of an analog is a sketchbook which you draw with your hands while digital is using illustrator.

While using illustrator and doing work digitally might be easier, drawing sketches or thumbnails will help to get more better ideas and produce better overall work. Many people would draw then transfer to digital so it got a realistic feel. As we watched in class of the music videos of analog and digital. Most people preferred analog as it has more control. They can press one button to make a function work while digital has less control and you can’t experience first hand. Through analog, they learned to work with digital, so analog plays a big role and is good to use.

I also learned abouts BITS and BYTE and that 8 BITS makes a BYTE. Huge numbers of BITS turn into BYTE, which will create the image of info. File compression lets you reduce the total number of BITS and BYTES in a file. Lossy compression will lose some infos in the original file so its not smart to use it. Cloud is a large group of interconnected computers that stores all the data on your computer or software.

We also discussed bad logos and logos in general. You want to avoid making a logo that will get translated into a negative or bad look. Like with the Pepsi where it delivers a message if you drink pepsi then you become obese. In order for a logo to be considered an “logo”, it must be a letterform. Wordmark, abstract symbol, and pictorial symbol. Most iconic logos consist mainly of letterform such as facebook which has the F letter form that is white on blue background.
