Over the last two days, students participated in immersion classes that helped introduce them to the language, culture, and expectations of studying in Paris. The lessons focused on basic French vocabulary, translations, greetings, introductions, and common phrases that students can use in everyday situations. A hands-on activity allowed students to practice ordering in French through a mock restaurant table setup. This gave students the opportunity to connect the lesson to a real experience they may have while visiting cafes, bakeries, or restaurants throughout the city. Practicing in this way helped make the language feel more useful and less intimidating.
The classes also gave students a better understanding of how to approach their time in Paris. Students reviewed what to expect during the program, how to adjust to a new environment, and why communication and respect are important when engaging with another culture.
