First Day in Paris: A Warm Welcome and Local Adventures

Today was our first official day in Paris and the excitement was real. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by Professor Abreu, Tinabeth and Sylvester. Their friendly energy made the start of this trip feel extra special.

After getting to our rooms, we had a chance to settle in and get comfortable. Then, Professor Abreu gave us a tour of the neighborhood. We walked by a beautiful local church and discovered shops and markets nearby. It was our first real look at what daily life is like in this part of the city.

Next, we headed to the local train station to recharge our Navigo cards. This was something new for most of us, so figuring it out together made it more fun. It also felt like a small step toward becoming more independent while we’re here.

To end the day, we all went shopping at the market. The prices were surprisingly affordable and the experience felt different from shopping back home. The highlight of my day was discovering bread without crust! Amazing! In sum, it gave us a chance to see how locals live and what it’s like to buy fresh food right in the neighborhood.
