This website will be devoted to discussing the many clubs and organizations that are in the City Tech community. The purpose of this website is to not only inform will not only current students of City Tech but future students as well. It will give perspective as to how each club operates, what their activities consist of and how they appeal to future members. The sources we will be using consist of written statements from presidents, advisers as well as other members. We also visited each club’s website to obtain more information pertaining to each club. The use of photography as well as videos from their websites will also be used to show these clubs and organizations activities on a day they meet. The research has helped to form the bank of information we have come across by informing ourselves of how clubs and organizations generally meet and what they do on a day by day basis. Plus, it has also helped to gain a greater understanding of the fundamentals of a club. One of the tools we will be using is an interactive game like a personality test in which your answers will best link to your preferred career. In the context of this website, the personality game will ask a series of questions. The game will be similar to a multiple choice quiz with four to six answer choices. There will be 40-50 questions asking general information about a person, like “how many times a week you do sports?”,”Do you love puzzle games?” or “What’s your passion?”. Based on answers game would create a psychological portrait of a person and came up with a club that will fit him or her perfectly. Although it will look simple there will be work done behind the scenes because we have many clubs and a lot of answers to which should be linked to the clubs. I think that game will be nice addition to the website we did because it will not only provide a person with information but also will help to choose the club. Not every student knows what they want and since there is a lack of information about the clubs on the main NYCCT website, our work will become very popular and soon all clubs will be full of members.
Example questions:

  1. Architecture- Do you love love buildings?(Answers: very much, yes, not so much, no)
  2. Chemistry- Do you watch breaking bad series?(Answers: every day, casually, no, I hate it)
  3. Food&Wine- What do you associate with France?(Answers: bread, wine, Paris Dakar, May 1940)

These questions will also range from hobbies, major, career plans, personal interest etc. Based on the answer from those questions, students will be matched to their corresponding club and/or organization. This test will help to give students some light as to what path they could chose that is best suited to their tastes. In our opinion, the type of website that is being created is partly both information resource as well as a tool. The test will provide insight as to what caters to not only a students wants but needs. The information resource part of the website is designed to give students knowledge about various clubs and organizations that exist the in the City Tech campus. For example, on the website, an individual would be able to learn key information such as the purpose of the club, their activities as well as their contact information. One of the main reasons why this particular approach to information gathering on the part of the student is so helpful is for many key. One, this information actually up to date as opposed to the official college website, which when investigated was found to be very old or even misleading information. For example, if you try to the part of the website that says “student office”, it will direct to contact an individual named Daniel Fictum. Unfortunately, all he does is direct you to another individual named Cristina Cross. However, her contact information is quite difficult to find. Our approach eliminates the middle man entirely and allows the student to obtain current information about these clubs and contact them directly (in this case it would usually be the president or advisor) if he or she wanted to join any club. The tool part of the website is the personality test itself. It will help students to figure out what club he or she should join. The questions will give a big picture and help the student to understand they want a club with art, one that delves into sports, or even that gives back to the community. The research has helped us as a team to realize that amongst the entire City Tech campus, there always seems to be a certain amount of difficulty when trying to obtain any piece of information. This website will help to alleviate the need to search for several locations on the internet and real world to just find information about a club. With that in mind, all of the information needed to know about the club will be presented in one location. One additional cautionary tale that should be told is that when trying to get information about students clubs, do not go to Daniel Fictum. This is because this individual only refers you to Cristina Cross. Unfortunately, finding her contact information seems to be too monumental of a task just to gain information about students clubs. In addition, no individuals in the group could get in contact with this person, which furthers our point for creating a website, which uses relevant information for getting in touch with any club.
