Educating Children On Their Oral Health and Nutrition

For our service learning project, my group and I visited P.S. 172 and presented to three first grade classes about oral health and nutrition. We used a colorful, child-friendly PowerPoint, showed a brushing song video, and demonstrated proper brushing with a typodont. I created a short quiz to reinforce learning and answered student questions. We handed out goodie bags with toothbrushes, toothpaste, a squishy toy, and a coloring sheet focused on healthy food choices. The teachers were very pleased with out evaluations and gave us positive evaluations.
