Student-Led Learning

What is one teaching strategy you use?

I believe in student-driven learning in which the student directs their own learning and the instructor is the facilitator.  In my class, I devote a portion of time in which students are given time to practice and engage with the material they learned so that their time spent in class is differentiated to their learning needs.  They have time to ask questions that are unique to their own learning and thereby, hopefully, more tailored to their goals.

What is one learning strategy your students could use to be successful in your course?

Since Construction and Engineering are such visual occupations and students learn complex design software in my course, I provide a multitude of resources.  This can include images, written text, shorthand notes, and videos.  I do demonstrations in class which are followed up by videos that they can review at their own pace.
