On event days, I’m not just an intern, I’m the eyes behind the lens. I handle all photography and social media content for the residency, which means capturing artist talks, studio visits, installations, and quiet moments of interaction. Each photo becomes a piece of the archive and part of the space’s public narrative.
“Documenting these events is about presence, not performance. My job is to observe without disrupting.”
Before, During, and After the Event
Before the event, I made a supply list, prepared the camera, and reviewed any artist’s preferences for photography. I tiptoed through the space during the event, shooting wide angles, details, and candid interactions. Afterward, I sorted, edited, and retouched photos, selecting the strongest images for social media, newsletters, and archiving.
“A good photo tells the truth of a space, but a well-edited photo makes that truth resonate.”
Posting with Intention
The residency has a calm, minimal online presence, so I avoid overloading posts with hashtags or over-stylizing images. Each post intends to extend the space: slow, thoughtful, and respectful of the work being shown. I often include quotes from the artists or moments that stood out while documenting.

Reflection
Photography here is more than just marketing. It is preservation. It is care. Each frame holds a moment someone might forget unless documented, making the work feel intimate and impactful.
“In a space built around process, photography becomes part of that process, not just a record of it.”
