Black Face On Moncler Puffer Jacket

This is a prime example of the higher class white american teasing black american. The conflict in this situation is Moncler, a popular high class brand has a high percentage of African Americans wearing their products. Monclear then goes on to defend their self by stating the outlined face on the puffer coat is part of a group of characters attached to their brand. Even if the characters are part of a collection, it's obviously controversial when it come to outlining a jim crow face on anything black. Moncler It screams black face. Is it possible that Moncler will see a decline in African American consumers, or will the company pay famous artists to start wearing their brand?. Should Moncler discontinue their characters for ever?, or how would they gain revenue after releasing such a racist product?

Although the company responded to the racial feedback, their choice of background looks a little dishonest. The eye emoji on the bottom signifies deviousness. The clouds are smiling and smirking as if everything is joyful. The black penguin with the outlined face is the only character with arms- a human like structure. Penguins aren't even shaped like this. Whats your opinion on Moncler's response to the racial feedback? Do you think this response is sincere or did Moncler know what they were doing?

  1. Hey Justin, I definitely agree with you. These popular “High Class Fashion” line designers and companies do not adhere to the group of people that wears their clothing the most. Instead they try to find clever ways to incorporate racism and slavery on the very same clothing that they end up paying celebrities to wear. This particular Puffer Jacket is a few seasons old, how many people have you actually seen wearing this style/design?

I do believe Moncler’s apology was not sincere at all. It was just the politically correct thing to do since they were called out on it. I believe every one on this earth (maybe with the exception of racists and the Aryan Nation) was taught about slavery, the effect it had on African Americans, the cartoons and “comedy skits” that white people thought were funny, and how the blackface thing was a popular racist act amongst white people. Even white people who are now in office. The best way to sum up Moncler’s apology is “ Opps we’re sorry we were caught being racist out in the open.

Moncler will definitely see a decline in their sales from African Americans, hell a lot of white people are frugal with their money and are too worried about future money to jeopardize it on a temporary trend, which goes back to my question; How Many People Have You Seen Wearing this Jacket?

  2. Hey Syeeda,

I can agree with you that I haven’t seen much people wearing this Puffer jacket, actually I haven’t seen anyone wearing this jacket at all. Although, the jacket is a few seasons old and people are rarely seen wearing it, the jacket is still fueling racial tension in America. It is constantly brought up during black history month as a sign of foul play by the people who “support equality”.  With the racial tension going on within our government system in today’s society, and a “High Class Fashion” brand releasing a controversial product like this which will always be available for the public to see, it shows the lack of respect against the African American culture 200 years after slavery was abolished.
