INTRODUCTION:

The topic I’m going to be discussing is how graphic design influences music. To narrow it down, I’ll be focusing on album covers and it’s importance on how the viewer perceives the music from the musician(s). Music for most people plays an important role in their lives.

BACKGROUND/REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE:

Album cover art is an artwork that can be presented as an illustration or photograph for an album, single, and or an EP of a musician or music group. It plays a crucial role in the music industry. It gives “passive listening to active listening” When a viewer sees the cover art, then they can be able to make connections to the songs in the album. An album cover art is supposed to attract one’s attention and tells a story about the album. There are notable album covers that resonated with the audience and can attract regular people to become super fans.

RATIONALE:

Why are album covers important?

What is the impact of graphic design on the music industry?

What makes a successful album cover?

How technology is changing the way how album covers are designed?

How does album art respond to changes in distribution?

METHOD AND DESIGN:

What I will do is do more research and look at more online articles about album covers. Checkout the latest album covers and their impact on distribution. How I would approach and show it by either creating slides or maybe create an interactive presentation that goes through the brief history of album covers to present.
