Problems & Solutions: Connect 4

Group Name: Connect 4
Group Members: Melissa Bonnick, Timothy Colon, William Hargett, Ajani Treadwell

Problem: Not enough night and weekend classes for degrees
Solutions: More online courses
Fundraising to hire more adjunct and night / weekend teachers
Allow online override approvals to take another class when the one you need is not available

Problem: Better wifi / internet connection. The connection is very hard to complete and then the connection itself is spotty at best.
Solution: Change service.
Get wifi company to sponsor the school / offer free easily connectable wifi
Utilize something similar to Starbucks wifi, where you just login in proximity to the buildings, no need to download software

Problem: Computer Lab Hours. Not late enough. Does not have hours that allow for everyone to use computers when they are free
Solution: Allow equipment rentals so people do not need to come to the school to use computers
Extend computer hours to midnight, get staff to work in the labs at night (work-study students)

Problem: Too much free time between classes
Solution: Class schedules closer together, less of a gap between classes
Add additional classes, to be able to take in between other courses.
Offer block classes so you don’t have to register for all classes separately, but rather an entire module.

Problem: Nutritional snacks in the vending machine
Solution: Add additional vending machines that only have nutritional or microwable healthy snacks
Add a juice bar to the cafeteria

To Whom  It May Concern,

Pursuant to your opening for a Director Ad Operations, I would like to take some time to briefly describe my qualifications and credentials.

Having an expansive background in the online / digital advertising field, I feel confident in my abilities to effectively apply my skills to any job within the industry. With over 10 years of experience in an ever changing industry as well as experience managing a team of people within a department I feel I would be an asset to your company.  I have worked at both Fortune 500 (New York Times) and smaller companies alike and can work in all environments. I have also implemented and managed workflows and processes at many companies as well as worked at an adserver where I helped over 20 publishers manage, setup or revamp their ad serving technology.

Employment in this organization will provide a solid foundation to further develop skills, while my enthusiasm will make me an asset to your firm.

The accompanying resume should serve to give you an idea not only of my past achievements but of my potential for making a significant contribution to your company.

I hope to meet with you to further discuss my qualifications for a role in your company and am looking forward to your response.

Melissa Bonnick – Mini Job Search

I would like to continue working in the advertising operations field specifically for online or digital. I have currently been working in the field for the past 10 years, starting as an ad trafficker and now leading a team of ad traffickers. I have a strong ability to multi-task as well as look analyze a campaign and confirm delivery / underdelivery or potential issues with an incoming project as well as find their solutions. I am versed in HTML, JavaScript, C++, XML, and the major ad serving technologies in the space. In terms of type of environment I am interested in working in, I think I would enjoy continuing to work in a start-up or small to mid-size company with a more relaxed than uptight atmosphere.

In order to work in this industry they are looking for html, Microsoft office, and other technical experience. The person needs to be organized and remain calm under pressure, as well as be able to articulate changes and push through the course of action. Javascript and XML is not required but a working knowledge of them is preferred. Finally they are also looking for people with a college level degree (masters is not required but a nice-to-have). I have seen different job types under the same umbrella of all different levels. There are specialist to VP level jobs with the following titles: Ad Operations, Campaign Manager, Revenue Ad Operations, Programmatic Partnerships, and Programmatic Operations.
