Type Challenges are short assignments that we do during class. The objective of this assignment is to practice tracking and kerning.

    • Landscape
    • 1 page
    • 1 column, 0.1667″ gutter
    • No facing pages
  • Save document as: LastName_FirstName_ TC_trackingkerning

  • In one text box write:
    • Musical Artist (sentence case)
    • musical artist (all lowercase)
    • MUSICAL ARTIST (all caps)
  • Choose a classic looking Sans Serif or Serif typeface (avoid scripts, novelty or display)
  • Use a large pt. size (45 and up)
  • First, adjust the leading, so that the three lines are UNEVENLY spaced.
  • Second, make the following adjustments to each line:
    • Line One: evenly spaced tracking but with really tight kerning between TWO letters
    • Line Two: really tight tracking but with really wide kerning between TWO other letters
    • Line Three: really wide tracking but with really wide kerning between SIX other letters (so, in three spots).
    • EXAMPLE:
