Overview

Type Challenges are short assignments that we do during class. The objective of this assignment is to practice WARP text and Offset Path in Illustrator.

Instructions

  • Create an Illustrator document:
    • 3″ x 3″
    • 3 artboards
  • Save document as: LastName_FirstName_ TC_WarpPath
  • Select two words that go together—ex “cottage cheese”, “cash flow”, “Barclays Center”—and type them out stacked on top of one another.
  • Experiment with with the WARP and OFFSET PATH tools:

  • Try a few variations.

  • Save your work in Illustrator and export a jpg named:
    “LastName_FirstName_ TC_WarpPath.jpg”.

  • In OpenLab, create a new post:
    • Named “LastName_FirstName_ TC_WarpPath”
    • Select categories: “Student Posts” and “Type Challenges”
  • Insert .jpg INTO your post.

Adding a Post:

    1. In the WordPress Dashboard, click on the tab Posts > Add New to create a new post

    1. Add a title in the title box at the top.

    1. Add an image (Add > Media) or formatted written content using the Post Editor.

    1. Add the relevant Category (choose from the existing list).

    1. Click Save Draft for later or click Publish to publish immediately.
