Try New Study Spaces

Did you know that moving to a new study spot can help you retain information better? It’s true! The New York Times discusses this idea in an article about how traditional study styles may not be as helpful as we think. So move around! Try new places!

Eat Balanced Meals

20% of our daily calories are used as fuel for our brains according to the World Food Program USA, while more challenging work can burn even more! Eating healthy, balanced meals encourages good body function, including our brains, which can improve your academic skills.

Mix Study Methods

Mixing up your study methods/materials while you study can help! This process, called interleaving, has been shown to be more affective than blocked practice, where you study one topic at a time. Interleaving can lead to better long-term retention and improved ability to transfer learned knowledge, according to the University of Arizona.

Practice Self-Care

Practicing self-care can limit stress, improve mental health, and increase productivity, not just during finals. Self-care can manifest in many ways, such as: yoga, listening to music, breathing exercises, taking a bath, and more! Choose whatever form(s) works best for you and practice it as much as you need! Finals can be stressful, so it is important that you listen to your body and brain and take care of yourself.
