Unit 3 Project Proposal Instructions

Note: These instructions are also instructions for the Participation Activity for Thursday, Nov. 12. We will use these for peer review beginning on Tuesday. Many of you worked well with peers in the previous assignments.

Write a brief project proposal for your project in Unit 3. Remember, this is not a ā€œresearch proposal.ā€ You have already researched your proposal and created the bibliography for Unit 2. This project proposal is a statement that considers the genre you are using for the final project. This project proposal will also be included in your Artist’s Statement for Unit 3.

This SHORT two-paragraph project proposal should include:

Paragraph 1: (no more than 4-6 sentences)

  • A 1-2 sentence statement of what you hope to teach your audience in this new project. This should be drawn from the most important thing you learned while doing your research for Unit 2.
  • 1 sentence indicating the audience you are trying to reach. If you are on task, you already did this on the discussion board for the last session. You can use the same ideas here in a sentence.
  • 1 sentence indicating the genre you are planning to write in for the Unit 3 assignment, and why you chose it. See the assignment post for suggestions on genres.
  • 1-2 sentences discussing your initial plan. How do you intend to get started on this project? For example, if you are making a podcast or TedTalk, you might start by listening or watching podcasts and TedTalks. Or, you might read and take technique notes on an article about how to start a TedTalk. If you are thinking about making a poster or brochure, you might start looking up how to make effective brochures. (Graphic design students, this should be fun!) If you are thinking about writing a magazine-style article, you might start reading and taking technique notes about articles that model what you hope to do.

Paragraph 2: (Sentence numberĀ dependsĀ on the length of your quote)

  1. Identify at least one quote you found in your research for Unit 2 that inspired you most and explain why this quote inspired you. Identify the source this quote comes from.
  2. Hint: For technique on quoting, I suggest reviewing today’s reading on using quotations: Kyle Steadman’s “Annoying Ways People Use Sources”Reading: Kyle Steadmanā€™s ā€œAnnoying Ways People Use Sourcesā€ and also see my notes on this post about using sources in the different genres you are writing in for Unit 3.

Technical instructions for posting:

  • Create this as a proposal at post on the OpenLab. You can cut and paste the text in the post or upload it as a pdf. Whatever you feel is most readable.
  • In the title of the post, please put your name and Unit 3 Project Proposal.
  • Example of title:Ā Michelle: Project Proposal Unit 3

what I hope to teach your audience in this new project is how drugs is being an issued and how it badly affected people mostly the adults and adolescent this topic is targeted for the people that have drugs addiction. in this topic they can learn how drugs may affect their life and brain.
The quote from my unit 2 research that inspired me the most was “Typical adverse effects include impaired short-term memory, cognitive impairment, diminished life satisfaction, and increased risk of using other substancesā€ I choose this quote because it show drugs affect many people in a bad way.

      Awa,
This is not a post. It is a comment. The Project Proposals the others have submitted are posts. This is described in the technical instructions for this assignment above.
