In poetry, a “stanza” is: “a group or sequence of lines arranged in a pattern.”
Even if you don’t read poetry often, you likely have an idea of what a “stanza”is. In music, we often call stanzas, these groupings of lines, verses.
The term comes from the Italian word for “room.” We will discuss stanzas especially when we explore pantoums and sestinas.
