This short video (3 minutes) filmed  at the Aspen Ideas Festival explores the elements of “story” as defined by writers, producers, and directors. “Story” can refer to fiction, autobiographical story tellers, and journalism.
As you watch, take notes. Which “elements” of story seem like necessary elements to you? Why? Do you “want something to blow up” as one film director states? Is it about conflict? Is it about meaning? Who’s opinion is most convincing and why?
