Raych Jackson, sestina for a black girl who does not know how to braid hair

Raych Jackson‘s sestina tells a story of power handed down through females and ends by showing how a young girl gains strength enough to love herself “on her own.” The sestina form gets almost overwhelmed in this powerful story-but the repetition of the words and the form, made this work come into being.
