Prismatic Colors

The compositions on the left are the narrow ranges and the ones on the right are broad ranges.

Chromatic Grays are colors that are the closest to the gray shade. These colors are basically tints of gray and they are the least saturated colors from the ones mentioned above.

Muted Colors are a little more saturated so they are basically between Prismatic and Chromatic Grays. By adding white or a little bit of complimentary colors to the prismatic color, you can make muted colors.

Prismatic Colors are the most saturated so basically they’re the pure colors.

Saturation Studies: Phase 1

Paint Stroke- Color Wheel

Instead of doing something a little straight forward and choosing objects, I decided to compose something a little abstract. I used the primary colors and created a a swirly stroke using gouache paint. To make that color wheel stand out I sketched a hand holding a paint brush with no colors at all.

I enjoyed doing this project. I decided to do one of my collages with organic shapes which was extremely difficult to start off with. Learned about broad range and narrow range values and other terms like high key and low key. If I had a little more time, I would have planned the collages a little better before hand. We used Adobe Photoshop which was pretty easy and we also used Gouache which I never knew about. I’m glad we got to explore with more hands on art work. The knowledge we going for this will help me set certain tones and mood for my future compositions.

Painting my broad range collage was a little difficult and it was easier to do the digital version of the narrow range collage. Overall I enjoyed the project.

High Key

 

 

Low Key

High key images are usually brighter and have a lot of highlights. The exposure from the light creates a subtle and positive tone to the image. This positive tone creates  pure, peaceful, happy and other positive feelings. My image sets a very peaceful tone.

Low key images are usually darker and have a lot of depth in shadows. The depth of the shadows create a dark and negative tone to the image. This negative tone creates mysterious, depressing and other negative feelings. My image sets a very mysterious tone.

Sound Visualizations: Phase 3

Until the phase 3, I enjoyed completing this project. The video editing part was pretty difficult and irritating at times. I learned the musical terms staccato and legato. We got a little insight on how to animate things on Adobe Photoshop. We also used and understood the ‘rule of thirds’. And lastly, we got to use the inking process one more time.
