Peer Mentor Visit on Thursday; Individual Meetups

Hi. Please have your papers with you for our brief sessions tomorrow — that is, if you need any clarification of my markings, et al. It’s best for us to see them in black and white (or green, or red). That said, we can talk about whatever topics you wish. Time is limited, however.

Peer Mentor will be visiting our classroom at some point. Not sure what time. Take advantage of his help by being ready with questions or concerns, as well.

Look forward to seeing you in class.

Examples in draft form of our next paper

Number 5 Train to Brooklyn College Flatbush Ave. Friday. It is hot and sunny outside and the train is crowded today. I ride this train daily to get to school. It is a normal, sort of average day. I am tired and a little sleepy.

I hear dingdong sound of the train moving. “Please avoid the closing doors.” Lots of indistinct muttering of people on the train.

Dung dung, dung dung, dung dung…. The train makes sounds in a rhythm.

Again: “Stand clear of the closing doors.” People continue to talk. I also see people tired, sleeping and others just staring out in to space.

Dung dung, dung dung, dung dung….

M3 Bus. Wednesday. 10:00AM. The bus is crowded. It is a sunny day.

“Back door!”

[muffled sounds of the bus] brrrr brrrrd brrrrd

“Please exit through the rear door.”

Chatter. The indistinct sound of many things that people are saying.

Thump thump. Click clack. There is also the sound of loud music coming out of someone’s headphones in the back. I think it is Country Road. “Almost heaven, West Virginia…”

Loud sounds of air conditioning.

beep of the bus’ stop request. Klnk. Dull thud sound of dropping of a phone

Um

A man drinking a whole gallon of Minute Made. Driver saying, “Next stop.”

[Thumping sound of the bus ramp being lowered for a wheelchair passenger to board.]

A Train. Tuesday. It is a rainy day. The train is fairly empty.

A middle-aged woman, dressed pretty normally, is asking for money. As she walks around the train car, she hands out little flash cards that read, “I have a baby….” And “Please return.” After she solicits us, she goes around and takes back all the cards. “Thank you so much—have a good day,” she says rather mechanically. You get the sense that she has done this many times before.

“Say what?!”

“Jesus Christ is coming back!”

An old man with grey hair in a blue sweater is talking to a young man in a hoodie.

Old Man: What are you doing tonight with your son?

Man in Hoodie: I don’t know yet. We might see 11/9, that new film. In it, Michael Moore, the director, says, “Climate change is not a hoax.” Literally. I agree with him.

“Hellooooooo?!,” A baby shouts to no one in particular.

320 is a little over budget

Sir

Life Is Change.

Whatever we engage in life, as we view it will always change. This subject matter dealing with change can advance either way and several individuals have a different judgement regarding it. Back then life was a simpler time, but as we age things will be dated with the ancient and in with the new. We as inhabitants believe that changing the way we arrange things will help the public. Despite this the public feels that changing the way we live will never give them any benefits. Mankind is just selfish with their desires, and will never give up the lifestyle that they currently have. Even we can say that we are pleasant where we are these days. Thus they just deflect it. Again the inhabitants of this earth will always seek change in humanity even if as we, the inhabitants refute and deny these changes. If the earth can’t change, then we can’t change. We will be living the same lives everyday, never experiencing anything that we can’t handle. Advancements are made in sequences, thus citizens can’t deny that lacking change we can’t be living the way we are currently.

life is change.

Life adaptation is essential. Every living thing that walks this earth adapted at a time in their life. The start if we’re being technical. Adapting was a subject humans weren’t very cultivated in, each had their ways . Life is many things and it can be defined as several things. As that happens, life is always changing and then a new age is presented. The new age then learns adapting.

Fundamentally, adapting isn’t easy because there’s always change. This is why I state that life is change. Every single day things are changing, whether it’s the small simple things we barely see and whether it’s the big things that make the media we always hear. It’s change. Explaining the “change” will just make everything shift in change again.
Maneuvering in life isn’t very hard it’s just us trying and living directly inside change that’s hard then there’s living past that feeling. That’s what we call adapting. It’s all because we must learn and be familiar with whatever the new “change” is.
There’s different manners in which this new “change” is taken. There’s humans that can’t deal with it at all and there’s humans that can deal with it regardless.

Life is Change… Death is Stasis

Imagine time, an element in which have limited leadership and stability with, ticking and ticking as every single minute passes. Panning back a bit, start imagining a wristwatch, its hands creating a mirage as if it became self-aware that it must travel in a circle, unless it decides that it’s character is a guide than a wanderer. The arm the watch is perched beside is like a teacher, wishing it safe travels as it circumnavigates its axis. But all the watch thinks is if the idea of travelling is truly his. Maybe it is, but perhaps the arm, as it turns the wheel that makes the watch’s hands travel afar, is the true cause of the watch’s existence. This is life in a nutshell: a watch that exists despite it’s lack of sense in itself, and a hand that guides the watch as did a puppet is guided by strings and an audience. Life can change like day and night, as it is infinitely adding. But when there is change… there must be stagnance.

Life is Change

In the beginning when humans were still learning the Earth it is living in, aware that everything is new and that they must learn to adapt and survive. As time past till the present, humans are currently living in civilized area, walking minding their business, passing by tall skyscrapers, and machinery advance in such ways that it is complex to understand. In the past, us humans just hunt supplies with simple tools such as a spear, a hatchet, and many items used for survival. But in the present, we simply walk in a nearby deli and just buy what we need and crave. Even the machinery has changed, in the past we used simple machinery like a wheel, currently in the present, we use big complex machines in different industries to create items humans need and want.

What is life?

Many may ask what is life and why we are always changing. Life is whatever a human and even an animal wants it be. Life as being talked is change, adapt else die. In life humans either find happiness as a need. By a human having a plan in it can help make life easy. All humans have faced and experienced failure in many ways. Different struggles lead different achievements.

Life is change draft

Life is simply full of struggles. Multiple paths that will make many distress, miserable, and if luck is nearby, happiness can be experienced. But happiness is packaged differently, a large sum of humans may find it in materialistic items, relatives, friends, even pets. Just when they start getting familiar with what makes them happy life makes the scary verdict with taking it away. Stripping us of our little bubble and we learn to adapt with the new ruling given.
