To Begin or Not to Begin?

When I first thought I had to get another internship I was skeptical because I didn’t know where I wanted to intern at because there were a lot of possibilities after attending this first internship class. I thought about a previous internship that I had with the CUNY Service Corps at Brooklyn Community Services (BCS). It was a great experience but I wanted my new internship to be a better experience based on the feedback I got from my previous internship. So, I started off this semester with a bang because I realized during the summer that I had to get a guaranteed internship and I had the perfect one at the Rockaway Youth Task Force (RYTF).

RYTF is a youth-led organization from ages 14-25 that I am apart of within my Far Rockaway neighborhood. There mission statement is to empower youth in our local community through civic engagement & volunteer opportunities. We also have a Garden on Beach Channel Drive and 58th St. I have been volunteering at RYTF for about a year now and I was hoping just to settle with them as my internship for this class, but as the class of this semester came and went I had to rethink where I wanted my internship to be at.

I sat with them before the first week of classes to ask if I could intern for a Graphic Design position because they needed one. They answered yes, and I proceeded to let them know that I will be in touch soon.
