Posterize

This was part 1 of the project, which was to posterize the original photo

Painting

This was part 2 of the project, which was to paint the posterized image with black and white colors

GIF transformation

And this was the 3rd and final part of the project, which was to merge our painted image with the photographic image

This project wasn’t that hard for the most part, I felt like I could’ve done better with my painting, but i feel like i did a great job.

Overall this project was a challenge, I honestly thought it would’ve been really easy but there was a few turns throughout the process, what I learned other than the different values was patience what I could have done better was add more value on my face. There was other layers I didn’t do because I didn’t want to mess the painting up . For next project I would take a lot of time into consideration , time management . Some of the strategies I used was mixing the colors and painting it on my printed copy to try and match the color as close as possible .

Here is the primary picture of me that I used to do the posterize part and then trace on to the tracing paper, where we then moved on to the Bristol. Afterwards, painted in the different types of tone we had on our posterize to get our final posterized painting.

This is how the posterized painting looks like at the end after some steps that I went through.

The project itself was hard to start with because even though we had to follow steps to get to the end there was some struggle to see what worked and what didn’t. The one thing from this project that I can definitely say was the very hardest part was to really make sure some of the tones we created with the paint match almost exactly. And lastly to play around and create an animated gif as our finally result.

While doing this project, I found it interesting how you can convey a certain mood using lightning and only black and white. Something I could have done better was testing the paint before putting it on bristol since it was my first time using this kind of paint. I enjoyed making and seeing the transformation of my portrait, I was already familiar with the process of Key Frames and Inbetweens. While creating the gif, I felt as I was in my element and helped some of my classmates with their transformations.

This painting was the second last part of project 3 and toom some time to be able to create the depth that was needed. These types of paintings relate t0 early painting that focused on monochromatic colors.

This GIF was the final step of this project and I think it brings that noir detail. Throughout this project, I was happy to see the final product of the painting stage. The painting process really remind me of the Guernica by Pablo Picasso

Something I learned form this project is that when I claim that I can’t do something I can do it even better than I imagined. Something I could have done better is take my time to include more details but it still came out pretty good. Based off what I learned from this project one thing I would like to take with me to my next project is patience. If you are behind or don’t understand what you are doing, stop take a breathe and start again.

Juxtaposition Project

Juxtaposition

To get there from city tech, you will have to have to take the R train at Jay Street- Metrotech station to Dekalb Avenue or Atlantic Avenue where you will then transfer to the Q or B train and take it to Avenue J. After you get off at Avenue J in Brooklyn, you will take the B6 or B11 bus right outside of the subway station to Campus Rd where one of the buses will take you directly to the front of the building. This is an example of Juxtaposition because the building on the left looks older and is covered in plants and flowers. The building on the left looks older compared to the modern and remodeled buildings that have been built around the area.
