The crosses represent the piano followed by more notes and the strings represent the violin in the song that gets louder eventually overwhelming the piano. I worked about 40 minutes with the scan.

I love the strings you used to represent the violin, I feel like its a really representation of the sound the Violin makes. I also love how represented how the sound of the violin went from high to low or low to high by thickening the lines to represent when the sound high pitched and thinned the lines represent the sound when it is low pitched. Great job!
This piece looks beautiful, your choice of shape to match the piano and violin are wonderful, you can hear each sound as your eye travels from one end of the page to the other.
I also like how you chose the patterns to frame themselves rather than drawing the box.
