In recreation of Tom Philips’ humument, Ceron produced a story only using image and text. Inspired from the human life span, his story touches on topics of time and regrets. Achievable through value and contrast Incorporation of stopwatches connect harmoniously with the text leaving viewers with a message of their own.

Using the method of blocking out words, Ceron invents a graphics related poem. Themes of passion, love and nostalgia are experienced throughout allowing viewers to connect a story of their own. Glistening love signifies purity and passion at its finest.

Not every love is the same. Love varies between friends, family, significant others and even pets. To symbolize variations of love, Ceron illustrates repitition of hearts each distinct from the other.

This poster is inspired by Swiss style posters and design aesthetics. Using Swissted’s nirvana poster, me and my colleague created a poster that was warm in color temperature. The original poster was black, red and light grey but for this project the use of all saturations were used (Muted, chromatic, and prismatic). The band name Bright Noise was thought of after me and my partner listed word associations for each of the 5 senses. Bright noise fit perfectly because the colors chosen, orange and yellow, are bright in luminosity. The term bright noise projects a powerful sense of sound and directs attention .

This project has been my favorite so far. I enjoyed learning how to really percieve color. I gained alot from this project and my perspective on life has changed alot. I no longer see hues and shades. Now blue can be turquoise and turquoise can be prismatic, muted or chromatic. Being able to be as specific and narrow with colors is important especially in the visual communications field. For the paintings prismatic was easiest and I found chromatic to be hardest. The reason i say this is because prismatic colors are the purest meaning using color straight from a tube would be perfect. Chromatic colors on the other hand have a dark, muddy appearance with a slight touch of color. For example, there are browns that lean more on the orange side and anothers that lean toward a green undertone. Regaurdless, chromatic should be more challenging because colors are mixed unlike prismatic which are straight from a tube. For my three compositions, I selected pieces that felt related and balanced to one another. This project overall was very beneficial and the skill of seeing was learned.

The collages were a challenge for me but I managed to complete both broad and narrow range pieces. For my broad collage I decided to surely include cutouts of my shirt. Plaid, already being a design itself, often gives a spectrum of gray when in grey scale. The reason being is that plaid contains many hues, shades and tints holistically. For the focal point I used a cutout that was high in value to draw attention. In the narrow range collage, I decided to stick with high key because the focal point for this piece would be very low in value. The contrast between the low key focal point and high key design makes it easy in drawing in viewers. The background was kept simple but uses a shadow of my headset to create movement and flow. In all I wanted both pieces to be an inverse of one another. The collage on the left has a broad range with a high key focal point and the right collage contains a high key design with a low key focal point. Overall time taken was about 2 hours 20 minutes.

My color wheel was inspired by a series of events throughout my life. When younger, I had gone camping and fished. I loved the relaxation and nature all around me. Also, I love the ocean. It’s a whole other world that goes beyond our deepest imaginations. Two worlds side by side, ours and theirs.

This project, as all projects, is one that I really enjoyed. But what I can say is that it was difficult, but i love a challenge. For my cut collages, I was having a very difficuly time because most of my photo contains my shirt which was plaid. The plaid in grayscale became broad range in itself so when I would try to recreate my narrow range, it was challenging because I was so linited to the areas I can cut. I wanted to use the whole image and tried my best to incorporate a variety of areas from the image. When it came to recrating my broad key in guache i was struggling. I had worked with guache previously but never painted something so deatailed and in grayscale. I wasnt able to catch every detail such as the lines of the plaid so I economized my drawing and stylized it. What I’ve learned through this whole process and project is that there is more that meets the eye. Every image has continous tone meaning every area has different value and saturation from the other. Also, I learned how to use guache and familiarize myself with the medium. Mixing black and white to crate different values is also an addition to my learnings. This project sure wasn’t the easiest but it is one that I gained alot from. My mistakes made me learn that for our next projects incorporating guache, to be patient and really focus on the colors i am mixing.

I found this project to be very enjoyable. I have worked with clipping before in terms of video but never really dug deep into it until this project. I got to work with layers of pictures and audio. In my project I tried to hit every single beat I heard accuratley. I would play the song over and over on the same part until the visuals matched the beats in the audio. What I could have done better is made my animation a few seconds longer because so the viewer can have more to process and analyze.

The song chosen is Liquor by Chris Brown. The beginning of this song is very soft and fades in. Although the beats are soft they remain staccato due to the jumpy, sharp sounds associated. Consistent through out, the beat has a staccatto feel to it but isn’t as sharp and hard like typical stacatto sounds. Instead, the beats kind of have an echo effect to them.

The legatto in this song can be found in Chris Brown’s singing ofcourse. Brown shows contrast through audio by singing legatto notes on a stacatto beat. In addition, his tone throughout the song varies. He starts off very soft and low and gets very loud and high in the middle of the song. At some points he sings legatto notes in the background and pairs it with the instrumental. At the end, he receedes back to a very soft tone.

I learned how to manipulate a color using its surrounding. There are many ways to achieve different effects. Such examples are shown above, you can have a change in hue, value, or both. Color is associated with psychology just as much as it is to art. Our eyes see and brains perceive so I’ve learned how to really observe and see color. I am able to see the effect but also notice it is the same color at the same time. The time taken to complete this was about an hour.
