Sound Visualization: Phase 3 & Phase 4

This is my Staccato / Legato project. It was an amazing experience for me to work on this project. What I liked the most about the project is we got to bring the thoughts and feelings to life as we listened to music. What we draw how was how we felt about the music we were listening to. Planning out the project took longer time than making it but I wasn’t surprised. I learned that from the last project. What I could have done better was scan the pictures with more appropriate dpi. In next project I will try to spend more time on creating the physical projects this way I can always go back fix the mistakes.

Staccato / Legato

This is my Staccato and Legato sound visualization. We listened to staccato music and drew patterns that represent staccato. Staccato music are where each sound or note in the music is separated from each other and in a legato music the sound is in a smooth and flowing manner without any breaks throughout music.

Shadin Animation

This is my animation of my staccato and legato project. We cut each boxes into separate pictures in photoshop. Then we took the pictures into Animatron and used the separate pieces to turn it into an animation.

English Project# 2 Draft 1

New York city is known as one of the fastest developing cities in the world. Everything is being ‘modernized’ as time passes by. The old buildings that held hundreds of thousands of memories for people are being replaced by building that are yet to create more memories and experiences for the people. But they will never create memories for the locals. Most of them will never see any of the rooms inside the new building. It’s for the tourists. They will create their memories here. They will be here with their polaroid cameras taking pictures of the hundred stories tall buildings and one day when they are old they will found a piece of picture fall out of some old things they’ve never touch for years. And when they look at it they will feel nostalgic. “I remember those days in New York.” They’ll think. That’s memory. Old memories are getting destroyed to build new ones. While I was walking down the street I saw an enormous building which is known as the Torren building. It looks very new and futuristic but it doesn’t quite fit into neighborhood it’s at. It’s a giant five hundred feet man in the village where normal people lives. Walk out of the Namm building of city tech and turn left. walk till you hit the the street. The street is very busy most of the time. It’s the Tillery street. On the other side of the road there’s a park with a handball court, a basketball court and a soccer field. Walk straight for a few block to the Myrtle avenue at flatbush. There you will the skyscraper. It’s tall. It’s very eye catching with the glass walls and the waves. It’s called the Toren building. But as you walk pass the building stop for a minute. There you will see a small block little block full of little businesses. Most of them looks torn or faded compared to the shiny building. Toren building is one of the largest skyscraper in New York city. It’s very beautiful and eye-catching. When you pass by the building it’s hard not to pick your head up and look at the building for a second. If you grab a brochure of the New York City that was created as a guide or the tourists the building is probably there. But the building that became invisible under the shadow of the Toren is unknown. Nobody takes a second to stop and observe it. Maybe one day he past it was known as a point of intersection what everyone used as a guide to their destination. It’s not just that one building. The whole block behind the building suffering because of the Toren. The became became invisible under the shadow of the Torren. People that lives at that block probably hadn’t seen the sunlight since the day that building got there. The smalls businesses mustn’t doing any good business because people would rather go shop at a fancy store rather than a store that basically became invisible.

Iridescent

iridescent

adjective

: shining with many different colors when seen from different angles

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/iridescent

I’ve come across this word when I was listening to the song name “Iridescent” by Linkin Park. Even though that’s the title of the song the word was never used throughout the whole song so I was very curious to know what it truly meant. Now I have a better idea of the song and what the message behind the song is. It’s talking about  what it feels like to be at a bad place in your life and how someone can find the light while you’re walking through the dark.

City limits summery

“City limits” is the first chapter in “The Colossus Of New York” by Colson Whitehead. The reading talks about the New York City and the lives within. New York is different city than the other cities you’ve been to. This city can’t be described in words nor can’t be shown in a television show. You just have to be here to know what it truly is. The city is always changing. From the bodegas in the corners to the skyscrappers. But the people living in the city doesn’t quite see it because they’re changing with city at the same time. They’re part of that change. But when they stops for a second and turn around to look back they see the change that took place. Who they were, who they are now and who they alawys wanted to be. Just like the city. And when you realize how much you’ve change you become desperate to find the middle ground in between the phases.
