Noticing Yourself as a Student

As our semester comes to a close, notice what you have done over the course of the semester. In this final noticing series post (a little longer, approximately 500-600 words), consider how you have changed as writer, reader, researcher, community member, and City Tech student.

As you write this noticing post, consider the following:

  • What did you accomplish this semester in ENG 1121? Describe the body of work you have produced for your Noticing Series and for your other three projects. Include quotations from your writing to demonstrate what you accomplished, making sure to introduce your quotations and analyze what you have done.
  • What strengths did you bring to this class? What did you find challenging? How did you face challenges in this course? Where do you see this, either in formal work for this class, informal work, participation, etc?
  • What new habits for noticing, writing, reading, collaborating, and researching have you developed this semester? Refer to specific examples from ENG 1121. How will these new habits benefit you moving forward?
  • As a student at City Tech, you have the opportunity to build an ePortfolio on the OpenLab, which is a website that chronicles your educational journey in college and features your best work from throughout your college experience plus incremental work that can demonstrate your work process. You will share your ePortfolio with your advisor, with your professors as you advance in your major, with internship directors, with potential employers, with alumni who can help you network–and you might also share it with your family to show them what you do in college. What work from our course would you want to add to your ePortfolio? Why would you choose it, and what would you say about it to explain it in its new context?
  • As always, include in your post a featured image that you have the rights to use that you think works well with your noticing post. Optionally, you can add images throughout your noticing post in addition to the featured image. Do your best to give credit for the images you use.

Due: Monday, 5/18
