I’m writing about work-study programs significantly impact the mental and physical well-being of college students, often creating a difficult balancing act between financial necessity and academic success.
I am aiming to reach college students, specially those currently in or considering work-study programs, as well as student advocates who can relate to the struggle of balancing work with personal health.
An Instagram or X thread would be a way to reach my target audience. Mentor text I would use is this instagram page called impact, it has a lot of examples of multimodal essays. The link is : https://www.instagram.com/impact?igsh=Y3lkZHdycm93YTQ4
The features I would use are vibrant colors and bold letters to attract the audience, ensure it is condensed to give the most important information, make it relatable, and look for resources that offer help to students.
I would implement statistics about student stress and psychological impacts like the affected sleep cycles.
Something new I would add are tips about how we can improve our mental health and feel better. I would leave out heavy information that would make the audience bored instead of interested.
I plan to submit the project by next week Wednesday, May 13.
I plan to get an A, and the support I need is just to make sure I’m not being too academic, and that my tone is good enough for college students.
1. What opinion did you write about in Project 2 that you will continue to work with for Project 3?
The topic of my Project 2 was about unfair financial barriers for international students.
2. Which audience are you aiming to reach?
The audience I’m trying to reach is students interested to come to the States for college, academics, and people who isn’t familiar with this issue.
3. What genre will you use for your multimodal text to reach your target audience?
I want to create a social media post that is engaging and informative.
4. What is a mentor text in that genre that you will use to guide your drafting–share a link.

5. What are the features of that genre that you will use in your multimodal text?
I will add images and drawings that relate to the topic, making it easy to understand and I’m also thinking about taking my own pictures and editing them in a way the information can stick with people who read the thread.
6. What information from Project 2 will you bring into Project 3? Is there anything new you need to find for Project 3, or anything you plan to leave out?
I will bring information, what is new are hashtags, linking someone, creating captions
7. Project 3 includes both Part 1, the multimodal text, and Part 2, an analysis of the text you’ve created. When do you plan to submit all of Project 3?
My plan is to post it next week.
8. What grade are you aiming to get on this project?
A+
9. What help will you want to reach your goals for this project?
I would like to receive some help about the right amount of information that should be included in the post.
1-The opinion I wrote about in Project 2 is that New York is one of the best places for opportunities. I focused on how it offers strong job options, helps immigrants build better lives, and gives students the chance to figure out their future even if they are unsure.
2-I am aiming to reach City Tech students, especially those who feel unsure about their future or stressed about choosing a career path.
3-I will use a multimodal social media thread, like an Instagram post or a X twitter thread.
4-A mentor text I will use is content from NYC & Company because they present information about New York in a visual and easy-to-understand way. https://www.nycgo.com/
5-Some features I will use are short posts instead of long paragraphs, simple and clear language, visuals like images or graphics, and bold or attention-grabbing statements. I will also organize the information into separate slides or posts so it is easier to follow.
6-I will bring my main argument and key points from Project 2, including job opportunities, immigrant opportunities, and support for students. I will also use the same research from sources like the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Migration Policy Institute, and the City University of New York. I might add simple visuals or updated statistics, but I probably won’t need a lot of new research. I will leave out long explanations and focus more on short, clear points.
7-I plan to submit all parts of Project 3 by the deadline given in class, and I will try to finish early so I have time to review and make changes if needed.
8-I am aiming to get an A on this project and being able to finish on time.
9-I would like help with making sure my multimodal project is clear and visually effective. I also want feedback on whether my message is easy to understand and if my visuals match my ideas. Additionally, I would like help with improving my analysis in Part 2.
